Think in layers
Each band keeps its own rate. If an additional €1,000 enters a higher band, only that additional portion is normally taxed at the higher marginal rate.
Why net pay still rises
A raise may be reduced by income tax and contributions, but earning more ordinarily still increases take-home pay. Benefit withdrawal rules can create exceptions that require a local calculation.
