Understand the difference

Time saved is not
income earned.

A faster first draft may create capacity, improve service or provide breathing room. It becomes extra revenue only when additional paid work is actually sold. An employee can document useful outcomes without assuming an automatic pay rise.

Eurostat reported AI adoption by 20% of EU enterprises with ten or more employees in the surveyed sectors in 2025. That measures adoption, not the number of jobs that will disappear.

  1. 01
    Tasks exposed

Identify recurring tasks a tool can assist with and their share of working hours. This is not a probability of losing your job.

  2. 02
    Net hours saved

Subtract assisted working time, checking and rework from the baseline. Compare tasks at the same quality standard.

  3. 03
    Errors reduced

Track corrections per task before and after, including any new errors the tool introduces.

  4. 04
    Value created

Record actual improvements: reliable delivery, additional paid capacity or a documented customer benefit.

  5. 05
    Income concentration

Divide the largest recurring income source by total recurring net income over a representative period.

  6. 06
    Financial runway

Divide accessible living-cost reserves by essential monthly spending. Exclude money committed to tax or imminent obligations.

Worked example · illustrative

Four hours saved.
What happens next?

Baseline drafting: 10 hours monthly. Assisted drafting: 4 hours. Checking and rework: 2 hours. Net saving: 10 − 4 − 2 = 4 hours. If all four hours become paid work at €40/hour, that is €160 in potential gross billings before costs and tax. If no additional work is sold, extra revenue is €0.

DAYS 1–30

Measure one workflow

Choose an approved, low-risk task. Compare at least three repetitions. Keep sensitive employer and customer data out of unapproved tools.

DAYS 31–60

Strengthen the human contribution

Develop judgement, negotiation, client understanding or quality control. Retain before-and-after evidence.

DAYS 61–90

Turn evidence into a discussion

Present the result to your manager or client. Review the actual income outcome and set your next financial or career action.

Check your runway.

Illustrative: €6,000 in accessible reserves ÷ €1,500 essential monthly spending = four months. Suitable reserves depend on circumstances and obligations.

Your next action

“Over the next 30 days, I will test ___ on ___, measure ___ and review the result on ___.”
